Scotiabank is proud to provide exciting experiences like the NHL Alumni Tour for hockey fans in our community. As Canada's Hockey Bank, Scotiabank has seen first hand, the love that Canadians have for this game. Through this Tour, the NHL Alumni and Scotiabank are able to support an event that raises much-needed funding and awareness for children and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities. All funds raised through Torch Run events are aimed at programs that directly support and affect all community-based Special Olympics programs. Funds are channeled into community programs, assisting with a variety of expenses including games travel, accommodation, meals, staff support, grants to new community programs, athlete training, public education, volunteer/coach training and development initiatives like school programs (which opens up opportunities to new younger athletes).

Camp Maple Leaf (www.campmapleleaf.net) was originally started by the Canadian Council of War Veteran’s Associations in 1955. The camp is a living memorial, paying homage to Canadian soldiers who were killed in the line of duty. For over 40 years they offered the leadership that was necessary in order to offer a quality summer experience to children who, due to financial barriers, would not have been able to attend summer camp.

The NHL Alumni (www.nhlalumni.net) is a non-profit organization, which serves as a liaison for 28 local alumni groups. The Association has adopted the motto of "Hockey's Greatest Family", providing programs and assistance for all retired NHL players, including career transition with the Life After Hockey Program.

The CWHL (www.cwhl.ca) The Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL) is a not-for-profit organization run by the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Amateur Women's Hockey (C.A.A.A.W.H.). The league depends upon valuable support from private donations and corporate sponsors.  Every dollar goes towards building a league that is dedicated to raising the profile of women's hockey while providing a place where the best female hockey players come to train and compete. The Canadian Women's Hockey League is the most premier, professionally run women's hockey league in the world. This league, gives elite level players a competitive environment to showcase their on ice skills. These players are the future of our sport. We salute their dedication and sportsmanship. “This is a great opportunity for us to share our game skills and our top players, and we appreciate the NHL Alumni for supporting us and involving us in these great charity hockey games.” said Brenda Andress, Executive Director of the Canadian Woman's Hockey League.
