(September 26, 2014. 6:00 p.m. – Chatham) – The Chatham Memorial Arena plays host to Hockey Night in Chatham-Kent September 26th as Scotiabank presents fans with a star-studded charity hockey game featuring the NHL Alumni Benefit Tour. NHL Hall of Famers, Stanley Cup winners, renowned hockey legends and Guest Coach and Ambassador Walter Gretzky will be on hand to face off against the Chatham-Kent Knight Sticks and participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run in support of Special Olympics Ontario.

“The NHL Alumni is very excited to have the opportunity to continue our long standing partnership with the Law Enforcement Torch Run and Special Olympics to showcase an exhibition game with Chatham-Kent’s local heroes from the Chatham-Kent Knight Sticks hockey team” said Mark Napier, Executive Director, NHL Alumni. “It’s a great honour to come together as hockey’s greatest family to play with old friends and promote the game of hockey across Ontario, all while raising money for such a great cause.”

The NHL Alumni Benefit Tour features an exciting blend of hockey skill, fun and nostalgia to provide something for fans of all ages. The event gives fans the unique opportunity to mix and mingle with Walter Gretzky and his team of hockey legends during pre-game activities. At the game fans will be treated to an exciting skills competition that features world-class hockey stars delivering some hilarious on-ice antics while competing for bragging rights. Doors open at 6:00PM at the Chatham Memorial Arena, 80 Tweedsmuir Avenue West, Chatham, ON.

The Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run (www.torchrunontario.com) is a community based, province-wide event that sees the “Flame of Hope” being carried right across Ontario by members of Law Enforcement Agencies. The objective of this and other events is to raise funds for and awareness of the Special Olympics movement in Ontario.

NHL Alumni Hockey Club

The NHL Alumni (www.nhlalumni.net) is a non-profit organization, which serves as a liaison for 28 local alumni groups. The Association has adopted the motto of “Hockey’s Greatest Family”, providing programs and assistance for all retired NHL players, including career transition with the Life After Hockey Program.
