Scotiabank presents the 2016-2017 NHL Alumni Benefit Tour! Your favorite former NHL legends face off against the Law Enforcement All-Stars in support of Special Olympics Ontario!

(March 30th, 2017 – Whitby) – Hockey fans rejoice as your favorite former NHLers skate into the Iroquois Park Sports Centre for Hockey Night in Whitby on Thursday March 30th, 2017! Scotiabank proudly presents the 2016-2017 NHL Alumni Benefit Tour featuring NHL legends from Stanley Cup winning teams, classic original 6 hockey teams and local former NHLers representing your hometown all in support of Special Olympics Ontario and the Law Enforcement Torch Run!

The Scotiabank NHL Alumni Benefit Tour gives fans a unique experience and an evening to remember that showcases top shelf hockey skills, on ice pranks and old fashioned hockey nostalgia. This great evening provides something for fans of all ages and gives you an exciting opportunity to see a lighter side of these hockey greats while raising money for a great cause.

The Scotiabank NHL Alumni Benefit Tour supports the Special Olympics and Law Enforcement Torch Run’s mission “To provide year-round sports training and athletic competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities”

Doors open at 6:00PM, game starts at 7:00pm at the Iroquois Sports Centre, 500 Victoria Street West, Whitby, ON.


Walter Gretzky - Ambassador

Known as the first father of hockey in 2007, he was awarded the Order of Canada for his contributions to minor hockey in Canada and dedication to helping local, provincial and national charities. He also carried the Olympic Torch during the Torch Relay for the 2010 Winter Olympics
Dave McLlwain

Dave McLlwain

After a stellar junior career with the North Bay Centennials this next Alumnus was drafted in the 9th round by the Pittsburgh Penguins and he would go on to play over 500 NHL games with Penguins, Jets, Maple Leafs and Senators

Luca Caputi

A Toronto native that was chosen by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2007 NHL draft after putting up 51 goals and 111 points with the Mississauga Ice Dogs of the OHL. During his NHL career he would play alongside Sidney Crosby on the Pittsburgh Penguins and for his hometown Toronto Maple Leafs
Tom Fergus

Tom Fergus

After developing his skills with the Boston Bruins this next Alumnus was dealt to the Toronto Maple Leafs where he became the #1 centre with the club
During his 726 NHL games he would notch an impressive 581 points.

Dave Hutchison

Our game official for tonight was an aggressive defenceman that played 11 seasons in the NHL with Los Angeles, Chicago, New Jersey and the Toronto Maple Leafs racking up over 1700 penalty minutes during his pro career

Rick Vaive

Rick is a former captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs, a 3-time 50-goal scorer and a 3-time NHL All-Star
• During his 14 seasons in the NHL he registered an incredible 441 goals in 876 games

Al Iafrate

He is a former Belleville Bull that was drafted 4th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1984 draft
• He would go on to play 800 games in the NHL where he became a two time All Star and the winner of the hardest shot competition.

Bryan Muir

• This Alumnus played 12 seasons in the NHL and in 2001 he won a Stanley Cup alongside Ray Bourque as a member of the Colorado avalanche

Dan Daoust

• He was named to the NHL All Rookie Team in 1983 and was a fan favorite in Toronto for his gritty style of play during his 8 seasons with the Maple Leafs

• Our next Alumnus was a feisty forward that was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in 1993. His hard work led him to play over 800 games and register over 1100 penalty minutes in the NHL with the Canucks, the Predators, the Hurricanes and the Capitals
Todd Harvey

Todd harvey

• Known as “Captain Canada” and won two gold medals for Team Canada at the World Junior Championships. In 1993, Dallas selected this hard-nosed forward 9th overall and he would go on to play 12 seasons in the NHL including a memorable Stanley cup in 2006 with the Edmonton Oilers.
Mark Napier

Mark Napier

• He was a speedy forward with a strong scoring ability . He is a two time 40-goal scorer and was a solid contributor during Stanley Cup with the Edmonton Oilers and Montreal Canadiens

Mark Laforest

Starting in goal, he is a two-time winner of top goaltender award and Calder Cup Champion of the AHL
• During his NHL career he played for Detroit, Philadelphia, Ottawa and the Toronto Maple Leafs

Mike Pelyk

•Pelyk was a smooth and solid all round defenceman that played 9 seasons for the Toronto Maple Leafs leading the defensive core in scoring during the 1973-74 season

Joe Sgro

Joe Sgro was a former minor league goaltender who served as a trainer with Team Canada 1972.
