Each fall and winter, some of hockey's greatest heroes take to the ice across Ontario, facing teams of local law enforcement in games packed with skills competitions, on-ice comedy, and unforgettable moments — all in support of Special Olympics athletes and Help A Child Smile.
NHL ALUMNI VS. LAW ENFORCEMENT
Retired NHL legends face off against local law enforcement teams in each host city — creating genuine competition, big laughs, and community pride on every shift.

THE FLAME OF HOPE
THE LAW ENFORCEMENT
TORCH RUN
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest public awareness vehicle and grass-roots fundraiser for Special Olympics worldwide. Known as Guardians of the Flame, law enforcement officers carry the Flame of Hope into Opening Ceremonies for athletes with intellectual disabilities — symbolizing courage, inclusion, and the celebration of human potential. In Ontario alone, the 2025–26 campaign raised a record-breaking $3.2 million.

A childhood cancer diagnosis brings pain, hospital visits, and sacrifice. Help a Child Smile exists to bring joy to these children and support their families. Now in its fourth decade, we have served thousands of families with children treated at McMaster Children’s Hospital.
Our mission is simple:
to bring smiles and joy to children with cancer.
